The previously published NACADA Pocket Guide “Breaking Down the Assessment of Academic Advising: The Assessment Cycle and Student Learning Outcomes” provided an overview of the assessment cycle and an in-depth consideration of the development of student learning outcomes (SLOs) (Robbins et al., 2021). This guide provides a more comprehensive treatment of additional elements that may be involved in assessment of academic advising, including identifying advisor outcomes and process and delivery outcomes, gathering evidence, measuring outcomes, interpreting evidence, reporting evidence, acting upon the outcome evidence, sustaining assessment, and applying assessment to scholarly inquiry. As with the previous guide, prompts are provided after each section to encourage readers to reflect and apply newly acquired knowledge.
